Clinton Liberal Institute, Fort Plain

Built 1879; burned March 25, 1900. This school was preceded by the Fort Plain Seminary, and the site is now occupied by the Fort Plain School. The Seminary and Institute, with a life of nearly half a century, were important educational factors in the life of the middle Mohawk Valley.
