Schenectady County Public Library City Directory Holdings

The first Schenectady city directories were dated 1841-42 and 1857-58. SCPL has those and a continuous run from 1861 to 1968 except for these missing volumes:

1903, 1917, 1922, 1932, 1934, 1944, 1946, 1948, 1950, 1967.

The only city directories published since 1968 are 1980 and 1984. We do have telephone books from 1961 and cross reference directories from 1967, 1971-date.

We are gradually making these directories searchable on our site.

The Schenectady County Historical Society and the New York State Library also have collections of city directories which may include those missing volumes.
