Barge Canal / Mohawk River Flooding at Schenectady Examined:
Appendix A: Excerpts from "A Chronology…" Report (1978)

This information is from p. 19 of Barge Canal / Mohawk River Flooding at Schenectady Examined: A Report to the People of Schenectady by James E. Duggan (Schenectady, 2007), and is reproduced here with permission of the author.

Pages 8-14 of the 1978 "Chronology" report list flood dates, the stages reached and their extent within the "Schenectady Section". The many included copies of newspaper accounts provide, regarding the floods of 1914 and 1916, day-to-day reports of observations. Following are pertinent portions of the report's basic chronology, supplemented with excerpts gleaned from the included news clippings. Despite being the interpretations of reporters and their editors, the sense of the matter is what is important (dates refer to publication and all italics are added).
