Power, Heat and Light, Grounds and Buildings Divisions

It is the function of the Power, Heat & Light Division to design, construct, operate, and maintain the necessary equipment to proide the Plant with electrical power - steam for processes, testing and heat - water - compressed air - gases - lighting - ovens - furnaces - ventilating - wiring - piping - crane and elevator service - and the erection and moving of tools and machinery.

The Grounds and Buildings Division designs, constructs, and maintains the structures and buildings which make up and house the Plant. Foundations - paving - fences and roadways are too a part of its responsibility.

Approximately 1300 employees are engaged in serving the many diversified needs to keep the Schenectady Works in normal operation.

[This power station furnishes steam for heating, manufacturing processes and testing at the Schenectady Works... Byproduct electric power from this steam supplies a large part of the Works load - 1x | 4x]
